MANGOES IN BANGLADESH

From my childhood I have loved mangoes. Tasty luscious, juicy, sweet, and so good to look at. They are one of the finest fruits in the world. And native to Bangladesh. Talk about “five a day” the five portions of fresh fruit the doctors advise. I’d happily eat five mangoes! Fazlee, Langra, Gopalbhog, Himsagar, Khirsapat, Ashhwina, Khisanbogh, Kuapahadi, Lata Bombai, Foria, Bombai, Kohitoor, Laksmanbhog, Mohanbhog, and Misribhog, so many varieties all great favorites, each with their own characteristics-sweeter, subtler, larger, smaller, more fibrous.

And now is the season! One of the little compensations for the teeming monsoon season, which produces stunning water scenery across the country.
